Freshman to Senior Year

Summer Research Programs at Research Intensive Universities

Sophomore Year Elective Course

DESP 7237 - Evaluation of Scientific Literature and Epidemiology.

The purpose of this course for the dental students is to develop the basic skills necessary to interpret scientific literature. The course topics are presented through three general components: Research Design, Biostatistics, and Epidemiology. Instructional methodologies used are lectures, exercises and group discussions.

Senior Year Elective Course

DESP 7411 - Research Experiences in Dentistry.

This course provides the dental student the opportunity to explore a variety of research experiences. These experiences include activities in research laboratories, dental schools or other institutions in Puerto Rico, the United States or other countries. Knowledge and skills in research methods are developed through active participation in research activities under the supervision of a mentor. Student must submit their research project to a local, national or international conference.
