The goal of office of the Assistant Dean of Research is to assist in the coordination and to encourage the participation in research at the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine. The research program includes faculty, graduate students, and dental student’s research.
Research at the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine includes three components:

1. Dental School Faculty Research
   
2. Graduate Student Research
   
3. Undergraduate Dental Student Research
   

Objectives:

1. Promote, support and facilitate the preparation of research proposals and the execution of research projects.
   
2. Promote faculty development in research skills.
   
3. Promote students participation in research training activities.
   
4. Coordinate with the Research Committee the preparation and execution of the research guidelines.
   
5. Identify research funding sources.
   
6. Promote and facilitate the publication in peer reviewed journals.
   
7. Coordinate activities that promote the development of research faculty and students.
